BAYSIDE FAMILY YMCA

A Season of Growth, Gratitude,
and Lasting Impact

Across the Greater Providence YMCA, summer is in full swing! Day camps are thriving at Bayside, Kent County, Newman, and South County, while Camp Fuller in Wakefield continues to deliver unforgettable overnight experiences by the water. In Cranston, Governor McKee and Mayor Hopkins visited our summer out-of-school time program, which now includes a new math enrichment component to help students avoid the summer slide. And just last week, our free community basketball league held its first games in both Providence and Cranston, bringing neighbors together through teamwork and friendly competition.

This month also marks a milestone we’ve been working toward for some time: brand-new cardio equipment has arrived at all six branches! These upgrades are part of our ongoing effort to ensure that every visit to the Y feels motivating, modern, and member-focused. They're also part of a broader commitment to improving the spaces where our mission lives and breathes.

At the same time, we’re facing the realities of maintaining aging buildings. We’ve shaken every tree, applied for every grant, and continue to aggressively pursue every possible funding opportunity to invest in our facilities. Even with those efforts, it’s a challenge to keep pace with the growing cost of repairs, replacements, and modernization. Replacing outdated systems and taking on large-scale projects requires long-term planning and sustained investment. This work will remain front and center as we plan for what’s ahead.

Looking toward fall, we’ll be launching a renewed focus on family memberships. We know the Y plays a unique role in helping families stay active, connected, and supported, and we want even more households to experience that value. In the meantime, we’re focused on finishing the summer strong. Thank you for being part of the Greater Providence YMCA. Your presence, support, and trust in our work make all of this possible.
