Dear members,
This past year, we've made important progress: repairing long-overdue infrastructure, installing new cardio equipment, and expanding programs to meet the evolving needs of our members. These improvements matter. They make our spaces brighter, safer, and more inviting. But the true heart of the GPYMCA has never been its equipment or buildings. It's the people inside them. The strength of our organization lives in the community our members have built through everyday kindness, quiet encouragement, and the sense of belonging you extend to one another.
We've seen that spirit in action all year long. You cheered for young swimmers you've never met at the Kent County YMCA's Swim Challenge. You danced and sang alongside group-ex classmates at the East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA's Sound of Giving concert. You bonded over local bites and shared stories of perseverence at South County YMCA's Brews & Bites. And beyond the events, you show up for one another in quieter ways too—checking in when someone's absent from class, offering a kind word, or giving to a program that may never touch your own family, but changes someone else's life.
In a world that can sometimes feel uncertain or divided, spaces like ours matter. For generations, the GPYMCA has offered people a place to find their footing: whether they're new to the community, returning from service, rebuilding after a life change, or just looking for a fresh start. That legacy continues today because of you.
This season invites us to pause and reflect. I'm grateful for what we've been able to accomplish this year, and even more grateful for the spirit behind it. Your generosity, your compassion, and the way you consistently show up for one another bring the Y's values to life.
As the holiday season approaches, you'll hear more from us about ways to support the Y's mission. But first, I just want to say thank you. Everything we do is built on the care you bring through our doors.
There really is no place like this place. And that's because of caring individuals like you.
The Newman YMCA Turkey Trot is almost here! Join us Thanksgiving morning for a festive run (or stroll) that supports our youth financial aid programs—helping local kids access swim lessons, after-school care, and more. Registration closes soon, so lace up and sign up today!
It's never too early to start dreaming of summer. Camp Fuller registration is officially open for 2026, with early bird pricing if you register by 12/31. Secure your child's place at the shore, where lifelong memories, friendships, and confidence are built.
This fall, our community showed up with heart. You helped raise over $46,000 through the Kent County Y Swim Challenge and more than $15,000 at South County Y's Brews & Bites event. Whether you gave, sponsored, or helped spread the word, your support is what makes these moments possible—and what keeps our mission moving forward.
As you plan for the season, please note our upcoming holiday schedule:
Check with your branch for additional class or program adjustments.
As the need in our community continues to grow, your year-end gift to the Y will make a direct and meaningful difference. We hope you’ll join us in strengthening more lives with a donation this holiday season.
