You might walk through our doors thinking the Y is just a gym, or just a pool, or just a place to drop your kids off after school. And yes, we are proud to be all of those things. But the truth is, we are so much more. Spend enough time in any of our branches, and you will start to see it.
The Y is where friendships begin, confidence grows, and neighbors find motivation from one another. It is where people come to strengthen not just their bodies, but their sense of self and their connection to others. That is the kind of community we build—one where you are seen, supported, and reminded that you do not have to do life alone.
And sometimes, life gets hard. Whether you are struggling to find affordable childcare, transitioning between jobs, navigating a new diagnosis in your family, or facing financial uncertainty, we are here. We may not always have the exact resource you need, but we know the organizations that do—and we will connect you with partners we trust. From food access to housing and utility assistance, we work alongside organizations that are ready and willing to lend a helping hand.
If the cost of membership or programs is a barrier for you or someone you know, please talk to us. Financial assistance is available, and we are committed to making the Y accessible to all.
This season, I hope you know that the Y is more than a place you go. It is a place you belong, on your strongest days and on your hardest ones. That is what community means. And that is what we will continue to be.
Thanks to a Lowe's Hometowns award and a crew of red-vested Lowe's volunteers, the A-Frame building at the Kent County Y received a much-needed makeover. Fresh paint and new floors are transforming this high-traffic space into a brighter, more welcoming environment for the youth and families who rely on it.
We're excited to share that the Y has received a grant from AstraZeneca's Health Equity program to expand our Adaptive Fitness offerings across branches. These funds will support equipment, staff recruitment, and training to ensure that individuals with chronic conditions, mobility limitations, and developmental disabilities can access wellness services in a supportive, inclusive environment.
Join us for Brews & Bites on November 4 at Tower Hill Brewing Co. in South Kingstown. Your ticket includes a signature brew and small bites from local restaurants, all in support of the South County Y's Rock Steady Boxing program. This non-contact, boxing-based fitness class helps people with Parkinson's improve balance, strength, and confidence—one punch at a time.
The Newman YMCA Turkey Trot is back! Join us for a festive run (or stroll) that supports our youth financial aid programs, helping more local kids access swim lessons, after-school care, and other life-changing opportunities. It's a race, a tradition, and yes, the perfect excuse for second helpings.
At the Greater Providence YMCA, fall means families finding their rhythm again. Kids are learning and playing, parents are recharging, and neighbors are building connections that last.
Your gift ensures every child, adult, and senior has a place to belong and grow, regardless of ability to pay.
This fall, your support turns routines into opportunities and keeps our community moving forward. Make your gift today.
