It's almost 2026, and the Greater Providence YMCA has accomplished a lot this past year, from launching new programs to rolling out new cardio equipment across our branches. But for this message, I would rather celebrate you.
Maybe you hadn't worked out in years, and you came back and picked up a dumbbell again. Maybe it was the five-pounder; maybe it was the ten. Either way, it counted.
Maybe your win was walking in when you'd been spending a little too much time in front of the tv. You scanned in, said hi to someone you didn't know yet, and slowly turned a routine into a community.
I also think of the busy parents who finally said, “I'm taking the hour.” You dropped your child off at Kids Care and took a Zumba or yoga class. Not because you had extra time, but because you realized doing so wasn't selfish.
Or maybe you surprised yourself in the pool by finally getting comfortable in the deep end. Maybe you showed up for BodyPump even though you were convinced you would quit halfway through. You didn't. You stayed. And that's a win.
This past year hasn't always been easy. The world can be loud, and life can feel heavy. That's why these moments matter so much. You kept showing up anyway.
As we look toward 2026, I feel optimistic because I believe in what happens when people have a place that is welcoming, practical, and full of support. The Y is not about perfection. It's about momentum. You've already proven you can build it, and we can't wait to keep building it with you.
Thank you for choosing the Y, for trusting us with your time, and for being part of this community.
From all of us at the Greater Providence YMCA, happy holidays!
And thank you for being part of this community!
Camp Fuller registration is open, and we're already getting excited for another summer in Wakefield! Early bird pricing runs through December 31, so it's the perfect time to grab a spot and give your child a summer full of friends, confidence, and classic camp fun.
We're smiling big over this one. The Bristol County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation just awarded us $10,000 to support our Out-of-School Time programs in Providence. Their generosity helps us keep kids learning, laughing, and cared for after school, and it makes a real difference for working families.
Forgot a gift for someone special this season? The Y has your back. Want to give something that feels good and actually gets used? Greater Providence YMCA gift certificates are perfect for personal training, swim lessons, and more. Swing by the front desk at any of our branches and we will help you pick one up in minutes, so they can kick off 2026 feeling stronger, healthier, and supported.
A quick holiday schedule reminder for all Greater Providence YMCA branches: New Year's Eve we close early at 2:00 PM, and New Year's Day we are closed. Please check with your branch for any additional class or program adjustments
As the need in our community continues to grow, your year-end gift to the Y will make a direct and meaningful difference. We hope you’ll join us in strengthening more lives with a donation this holiday season
