At the South County YMCA we offer a safe, supervised program that helps to develop character and inspire discovery in fun in exciting ways. Our programs are licensed by the State of Rhode Island and we offer enrichment activities such as sports, yoga, martial arts, and theater.
More than childcare, our Before & After School Programs nurture the potential of children. At the Y, kids are cultivating the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better behavior, health, and educational achievement.

We have over a decade of experience in providing safe, enriching early education for youngsters. Now more than ever, your family needs the peace of mind that the Y can provide. At the South County YMCA Preschool and Toddler Program, children use their curiosity and imagination to become creative thinkers. Our comprehensive curriculum prepares children to become independent learners and develop self-confidence for sharing in a classroom setting. We focus on areas of pre-reading, math and science skill development. We enroll children ages 18 months to 5 years and accept CCAP and offer our own YMCA Financial Assistance!

Our Y swim team produces champions! Competitions are held at southeastern New England YMCAs as well as nationally. Our competitive swim teams strive to provide an opportunity for young people to participate in competitive swimming under conditions that will foster aquatic ability, team spirit, and sportsmanship. We encourage personal goal setting, self-discipline, achievement, commitment, and parental involvement. Our coaches provide the professional expertise to help develop well-rounded ability in all strokes. To join our Y swim team, swimmers must be able to swim one pool length on both front and back. The YMCA of Greater Providence is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (Tax ID: 05-0258878). All cash or in-kind donations made to the YMCA of Greater Providence are tax deductible. Additionally, many companies and organizations have Matching Gift programs – the company will match the employee’s donation to the employee’s charity of choice.

Your first month’s membership dues will be pro-rated at the time that you join. Most members pay dues through a monthly bank draft/credit card that will be established at the time you join. You may also pay for your membership dues on a quarterly or annual basis.
If you are interested in joining the Y, you need to create an online account. A Y membership allows full use of our facilities and all the added benefits of a membership.

New members have 30 days from the date of membership to decide if the Y is the place for them. If you are not completely satisfied, you will receive a full refund. To do so, you must complete the appropriate form available at the Welcome Center. For additional refund policies, please contact your nearest branch.
Nationwide Membership enables you to visit any participating YMCA in the United States through membership at your “home” YMCA (your home Y is the local association that enrolled you as a member and collects your membership dues. We offer this because we want to help you reach your health and wellness goals wherever you live, work or travel. This is an essential part of our mission to strengthen communities.
There is no organization more qualified in swim instruction than the Y, who invented swim lessons in 1903. The Y teaches water safety, a critical life-saving skill for all children and adults, and how to swim. These skills build confidence and make it possible to safely enjoy pools, water parks, and the outdoors.
People of all ages can learn fundamental swimming skills from nationally certified instructors while fostering a life-long appreciation for physical activity and wellness.

The parent/child swim program introduces infants and toddlers to the joys of swimming for the first time under the care and love of their parents. As a parent, you will learn about the importance of supervision, water safety and how to encourage and guide your child to become more familiar with being in the water.
Group swim lessons offer an excellent opportunity for infants, toddlers, youth, and adults of all ages to learn water safety skills in a safe and supportive environment. The Y’s swim lessons are grounded in a skill continuum, that allows students to flow easily from one skill to the next with clear stages of progress along the way. We welcome participants of varied and diverse abilities. Our instructors are committed to fostering a sense of achievement in classes, with an emphasis on group activities that build relationships and character development.
Private Swim Lessons for ages 3 and up to allow for individualized attention to help improve or master swimming skills. Together, the instructor, participant and/or parent determine the goals for the session, and the curriculum is customized in order to meet these goals.

At the Y, our sports staff, coaches and volunteers all share a singular vision of helping all youth reach their full potential in life. We leverage the excitement and passion around youth sports to create a safe space for children to gain new skills, develop a sense of team and connect with new friends and positive role models.
1 FREE youth sports class per session is included with all Family and Individual Plus memberships! Specialty classes, leagues and aquatics are not included.
Classes run in 8-week sessions and are $80 for members or $100 for non-members unless otherwise noted.
Preschool Classes are offered for children ages 3-5 and youth classes for children ages 6-11.
