[Providence, RI – Monday, August 31, 2020] The YMCA of Greater Providence announced today that Lamel Moore has been named Executive Director of the East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA in Providence, Rhode Island.  With an extensive background and experience serving the nonprofit community, Moore will fill a vital role replacing Barbara Vincent, who is retiring after a historic 30-years of service to the Y.

“I'm excited to be joining the East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA, as one of the pillars in the East Side Community,” said Moore. “I look forward to partnering and learning from a diverse group of community members as we work together to address the needs of our neighbors during these most unprecedented times,” Moore said.

Moore, a Rhode Island native, began his nonprofit career as a site-based coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State before transitioning to a lengthy career at the Boys and Girls Club where he served in various leadership roles including Executive Director.

“Lamel’s nonprofit experience coupled with his leadership abilities will help the East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA continue its vital mission in supporting our neighbors in need,” said Steven G. O’Donnell, Chief Executive Officer for the YMCA of Greater Providence. “His passion for people and commitment to our mission will help us better serve the East Side/Mt. Hope communities,” O’Donnell said.

Moore will focus heavily on implementing innovative strategies to uphold and strengthen the Y’s longstanding community relations and outreach. He will also cultivate philanthropic and civic partnerships, manage the daily operations, and enhance an already strong team of dedicated staff.

Moore is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University with a degree in Business Administration and Management. He’s a board member of AIDS Care Ocean State. His free time is spent with his wife and daughter.
