  • Lifeguard Certification Course 

    Ages 16-Adult
    Participants will receive a national YMCA of the USA Lifeguard Certification. Attendance at every class is required. Standard First Aid, CPR/AED and Oxygen Administration are pre-requisites for this class.  Please see our current program guide for dates, times and fees.

  • American Safety & Health Institute CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer

    The American Safety & Health Institute CPR Program for the Professional Rescuer is designed to teach CPR skills for victims of all ages. Skills include ventilation with barrier and bag-mask devices, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign body airway obstruction. This class is intended for participants who provide healthcare to potential victims in a variety of settings. Proficiency in skills will be required for certification.

  • American Safety & Health Institute Basic First Aid Certification

    Students will learn to recognize and cope with life-threatening emergencies. First Aid is a two-year certification, awarded upon successful completion of the course.

    Note: A participant’s request to withdraw from a CPR or First Aid class must be received 48 hours prior to the day of the class, at which time a credit will be offered (no refunds.) Participants canceling after 48 hours will not be issued a credit.


  • Emergency Oxygen Administration

    Emergency Oxygen Administration is a critical step in treating a severe or life-threatening illness or injury. This program focuses on administering emergency oxygen, rescue breathing and oxygen delivery devices.

  • Child & Baby Sitting

     Ages 11-16
    The CABS program stresses the priority to keep you and the children you care for safe. Babysitting is not just “watching” the children, but being responsible for their safety and well being. When you are caring for a child, you are taking care of a parent's) most prized possession. Everything in their home and your own home can be replaced— everything, that is, except a child.  

  • Commit to Quit

     The Greater Providence YMCA, in partnership with the Miriam Hospital, are looking for female smokers to participate in an exciting research program, Commit to Quit.

    Commit to Quit is a 12-week smoking cessation program based on clinical research using proven strategies to change your habits and manage stress.

    Eligible participants will be:
    - Female smokers between the ages of 18-65
    - Not regular exercisers
    - Generally healthy

    You do not have to be a current YMCA member to join! You will receive a 3 month YMCA membership at no cost to you and nicotine patches at no charge to you as part of this study! Enrollment is ongoing. Please call (401) 793-8210 to determine your eligibility to participate.

  • Challenge Course

    The Kent County YMCA is proud to have an exciting challenge course on-site which includes low and high ropes elements and ground level activities. Our program is designed to meet the needs of your group and give them a learning experience that is just as memorable as it is transferable to their daily lives.   • Lock-Ins and Post-Prom Events

    The Kent County YMCA is a fun and exciting location for your school, church or organization’s next lock-in. Whether the event is a fundraiser or just for fun, the YMCA can work with you to make it a success! Facilities include swimming pool, gymnasium and multi-purpose room.   • Pool Rental
