Anthony Carnevale 21st Century
Community Learning Center
Our 21st Century Community Learning Center at Anthony Carnevale provides academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children
Our program is learning and fun!
Out of School Time at Providence Youth Services is so much more than play and social time. Each program is also academically aligned with the students' school day lessons and curriculum. Through engaging and experiential enrichment classes, the students build on what they are learning during the school day in a way that is definitely not "more of the same." Teachers from the school are employed by the YMCA along with trained YMCA youth counselors to engage students interest and build their learning. Students who attend the Providence YMCA Youth Services Out of School Time programs increase their literacy levels and do better in school.
Each day, students also have a healthy snack, designated homework time, physical activity and enrichment classes. All programming for the student is student and parent choice. If there is a concern that a child may not be getting enough physical activity or if they just love being active, then classes with our Y on The Move program are a great choice. For children who can't get enough science or math, there are enrichment classes taught by Y staff and community providers like Save the Bay and Professor Gizmo.
Our program involves Parent/Teacher/Principal leadership!
Parents, principals and school teachers at our schools help us decide which programs their students like and need!
