Out of School Time
The Cranston YMCA provides quality child care programs for children Kindergarten through Grade 8 with 250 children currently enrolled at six child-care sites throughout the city of Cranston. Children will have a variety of experiences that will prepare them for a lifetime of learning. Physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth is encouraged in a nurturing, supportive environment. All of our programs are centered on the three-way relationship that exists between children, parents/ guardians, and staff.
The Cranston YMCA offers a variety of programs to address the varying needs of the community. Whether you are a working parent looking for full day or after school care or you are just looking for a fun, learning environment for your preschooler a couple of hours a day, the Y has what you need!
OUT OF SCHOOL TIME CHILD CARE
Cranston YMCA’s Out of School Time Program is our answer to every working parents question about quality care for their child (Kindergarten through middle school) 39 weeks per year! For the times you can’t be there yourself, the YMCA supports your efforts to nurture your child’s healthy development. Our well-trained staff provides safe, affordable, high quality care so you can have peace of mind while you work. This program is licensed by the Department of Children, Youth and Families.
Our School’s Out curriculum includes Arts & Humanities, Health & Wellness, Homework Assistance and Character Development. Recreational swim is also a part of our weekly schedule. This program operates year round from school dismissal time to 6:00 PM and includes full days during school vacation weeks. Our School’s Out program operates out of the YMCA and several off-site centers including Eden Park School, George J Peters School, and Rhodes School.
Before school care is available for specified schools beginning at 6:30 AM. We service Cranston schools and provide transportation from certain ones. AFTER KINDER CARE
If you are a parent frustrated with half-day Kindergarten, our After Kindergarten Care is a great option for you. It is available for students attending morning Kindergarten. Our program is licensed by the Rhode Island DCYF. It supplements the half-day Kindergarten programs to offer your child a full day of academic and recreational activities. Our curriculum is designed around weekly themes and includes arts and crafts, learning centers, gym activities, recreational swim and other educational opportunities.
After Kinder Care serves the following school sites:
Arlington, Duetemple, Eden Park, Gladstone, Peters, Stadium, Stone Hill, Woodridge, and Waterman
Transportation is included to some sites.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CARE
Our program operates year round from school dismissal time to 6:00 PM and includes full days during school vacation weeks. We service Cranston schools and provide transportation from certain ones. Before school care is available for specified schools beginning at 6:30 AM. Our School’s Out program for Middle School children operates out of the Peter Pastore Youth Center at 155 Gansett Avenue, Cranston, RI.
