We serve the areas of Jamestown, Saunderstown, Kingston, South Kingstown, Wakefield, Peace Dale, Narragansett, and Charlestown.
Memberships are comprised of 39% families, 17% adults, 12% young adults, 10% active older adults, 8% couples, 7% one-parent families, 4% youth, 3% teens.
We are one of the four pioneering
Activate America
YMCAs.
We are in the heart of the University of Rhode Island community and benefit from the social and educational events that URI offers. Many of our members are professors and students of URI.
Summer vacationers coming into the South County area are welcome to use our YMCA. We offer Summer Memberships that are valid from Memorial Day through Labor Day. (link to Summer Memberships)
Special events for adults include a Health & Wellness Fair, Annual Pumpkin Run Road Race, Annual Yard Sale, RI Blood Drives, Health Screenings, and Health & Wellness Lectures and Seminars, and Monthly Member Appreciation Weeks
Special Events for children and families include Halloween at the YMCA, Family Holiday Social, Fall Family Harvest Fest, Family Easter event and other special family events.
Spirit Programming at the Y showcases a variety of spirit-based activities such as “Nurturing Your Mind and Spirit” book club, and specialty workshops facilitated by local professionals.
Teen Programming is centered around the 11 to 17 years olds. Programs include Leaders Club, Jr. Leaders Club, Babysitting Basics, Basketball Teams, Friday Night Hoops, Teen Nights, and other activities geared toward this age group.
Wellness Programming offers group exercise classes, Yoga & Pilates, Women on Weights, and Personal Training sessions. We also offer Reiki and massage therapy. One of our newest offerings is the Living Strong/Living Well program for cancer survivors.
